The Office of Dr. Terrence Lau Response to COVID-19

Now that we are allowed to resume seeing patients. The health and safety of our patients and staff has always been a top priority.

We are actively monitoring real-time reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), California Department of Public Health, California Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, and local governments. We have re-opened the office and will continue to comply with public health experts’ guidance.

Face Coverings will still be required at our dental office even for people who are fully vaccinated.  We are following the CDC guidelines and are committed to providing a safe environment.

Our office practices “Universal Precautions” and maintains a sterilization protocol involving:

  • Two hospital-grade instrument sterilizers with sealed and individually-bagged instruments

  • Full sanitary wipe-down and sterilization of all operatories and equipment after each patient

  • Our HVAC system has four intake vents that are constantly filtering the air through high-efficiency MERV-13 filters.  Filters are continually changed every 90 days.  Based on the square footage of the office, all the air in the office is completely replaced and filtered approximately every 8-9 minutes.  These filters have been certified to filter all airborne bacteria and particles that can carry viruses.

In addition, we have implemented the following new actions to help protect our patients and staff:

At your next appointment:

  • If your child has a cough, fever, flu-like symptoms, experiencing loss of taste and/or have a household member with a cough, fever, or flu-like symptoms, please re-schedule to a later appointment.

  • When waiting in the reception area, please respect social distancing and sit at least 6 feet away from other occupants.

  • Hand sanitizer application will be administered prior to being back to the treatment area.

  • When waiting in the reception area, please respect social distancing and sit at least 6 feet away from other occupants.

  • We are limiting appointments to avoid multiple patients in the office at the same time, and we are circulating our treatment areas so that patients are not seen in the same treatment immediately after the preceding patient.  These new tactics are time consuming and trust that our staff is doing the best we can.  Please be patient with us.

We thank you for your continued trust in our office.
